Transferring Domains

Question: How do I transfer a .uk domain name to LD Hosts?

Answer: It is easy to transfer a .uk domain name to LD Hosts. Simply follow these 2 steps:

- Change the IPS TAG of your domain to EXTEND. Most larger ISPs will allow you to do this via their control panels, and some may charge. If you require any assistance with this, please contact us.
- Once the IPS TAG of the domain has been changed, simply enter that domain name in the Domain Search on the LD Hosts website, and choose the correct result under the transfer domain section.

Question: How do I transfer a com, net, org, info, biz or name domain to LD Hosts?

Answer: Transferring your com, net, org, info, biz or name domains to LD Hosts is simple if you follow the guidelines in this FAQ.
Before you start the transfer you must ensure that the current administration contact email address is valid and that the person receiving email at that address knows that they must respond to emails about the transfer. The domain name must also be unlocked with the current registrar.
1 - Search for the domain name you wish to be transferred using the LD Host domain name search. Choose the correct result under Transfer Domain name.
2. Proceed to the checkout and purchase the domain name transfer.
3. The administration contact will receive an email from OpenSRS with instructions on how to confirm the transfer.
4. Once confirmed it will take only 24 HOURS to become active if you are transferring from 123-reg or UKREG. With other providers it may take up to seven days.
5. You may also receive another email from the current registrar, if you do you should read this very carefully as it may contain instructions for you to authorise the transfer away from them.

Question: Do I have to transfer my domain name to LD Hosts to use your hosting packages?

Answer: No. If you wish to leave your domain name where it is, and simply link it to one of our hosting packages, all you need to do is change the nameservers that are set against the domain name to the following: ns.mainnameserver.com and ns2.mainnameserver.com.
Once you have changed the nameservers to the above, choose the hosting package you require and press 'Order Now'. Then on the next screen, enter the domain name in the box that says "Enter a domain name whose DNS records you will be maintaining with another provider."
